Great plants to support great programs

A Fun and Important All Hands on Deck Event

The funding for many of the Master Gardener classes, community education presentations and programs comes from our plant sale. Creating a “‘Pop-up Nursery” for just one day requires a lot of effort from our Master Gardener volunteers! Read below to learn more.

Coming next year: plant sale on
May 9, 2026

Save the Date! This mid-spring community tradition is the official kick-off to gardening season — shoppers will find a great variety of native plants, veggie and herb seedlings, and perennial plants and shrubs. Every year is a bit different, as most of the plants are grown and/or donated by Master Gardeners. Proceeds from the plant sale support the numerous Master Gardener community education services.

We start by growing as many sale plants as we can

Starting thousands of plants from seeds, cuttings and divisions

After Labor Day, our volunteers begin the process of growing new plants for the next year’s plant sale. We take cuttings from existing plants, divide bulbs and grasses. In the new year, we begin planting thousands of plants from seed, timed so that they are the right size for planting when the plant sale arrives. We use our yards and greenhouses and good old fashioned growing know-how to do our best to bring you a large selection of quality plants.

It all comes together May 9, 2026

Come join us next spring!

Our goal is for gardeners to have the best possible experience while shopping for the broadest possible array of plants.  It typically takes months for us to select, seed and propagate thousands of plants, including hostas, small trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, ground covers, tomatoes, fruits and succulents.

From two-inch seedlings to young trees, a rainbow of colorful annuals and perennials are available at enticing prices. All plants are grown and cared for by Master Gardeners under the best conditions and include many varieties not available at local nurseries.

Thank you all for your participation in the Master Gardener Spring Plant Sale in 2024!
