Supporting WSU Jefferson County Master Gardeners to provide research-based horticultural information

The Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation is a nonprofit organization in a collaborative agreement with WSU Jefferson County Extension. The Foundation provides support services and financial assistance to further WSU Extension’s mission in educating the community with sustainable, research-based horticultural information. The Foundation also provides financial grants to community organizations engaged in agriculture and sustainability efforts in Jefferson County.

Join Us for the Yard & Garden Lecture Series

Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation’s Yard & Garden Lecture Series. Visit the Yard & Garden event page for info about speakers and topics, as well as the link to Eventbrite where you can buy tickets.

The theme of this year’s series is “Cultivating Resilient Gardens.” The lectures will be in person at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, and will run on six consecutive Saturday mornings: January 10, 17, 24 and 31, and February 7 and 14. Series tickets for all six lectures are $75; single event tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 on the day of the event.

The series is co-sponsored by WSU Jefferson County Extension.

January 8 Lecture

“From Sea to Soil: Turning Seaweed Waste into Garden Gold, 3–4 p.m., Thursday, January 8

Emily Buckner and Erick Dowell from Puget Sound Restoration Fund’s Sea-Land team will explain the causes and local impacts of green tides in Washington and the regenerative practice that turns this seaweed into an effective soil amendment for local farms and gardens all while connecting communities around their local watersheds.

This talk is open to the public.
